My Journey to the Trumpet Club

School is the second home of every student. During my childhood, I spent a lot of time at school every day. To study, to practice, to have fun and to grow up. Therefore, I love my school very much.

School is a place that gives us knowledge, supports every step to move towards the future. Coming to school, we learn many new things, new knowledge. The school gives us profound lessons on being human, practical soft skills that we can apply in life. Of course, the school is not just a place to study. Every year, our Duc Tri School always actively organizes extracurricular activities, outdoor lessons to help improve students' skills. Not only that, the school focuses on opening skill classes, after-school clubs to help discover and improve the talents of each student. In particular, the trumpet and drum club is the place that I have been attached to for a long time.

The brass band club was founded when I was in second grade. The first pioneers were junior high school students, at that time there were very few members, mainly those who had a passion for music. They were trained by the school quite early to be able to serve the school in the flag-raising ceremonies at the beginning of the week, major ceremonies, and even to compete to bring achievements to the school. From those activities, the brass band club was welcomed by many young people and received enthusiastic participation from students with the desire to contribute to the school.

At the beginning of the 6th grade, I remember it was a normal day like any other day, I accidentally received an invitation to join the trumpet club from the head teacher. I thought this was a good opportunity to help me improve my skills, so I did not hesitate to ignore it and immediately accepted the teacher's invitation. In the first days at the club, I was still a bit confused with the new things, but thanks to the enthusiastic guidance of my seniors and teachers, I gradually adapted to everything around me, thanks to studying here I learned how interesting the lessons were. The club is a place to exchange, learn, help me get to know new friends, we talked to each other, guided each other on how to practice, if anyone did not know anything, they just asked each other, so our practice sessions were never boring but filled with laughter. Over time, we became closer to each other. Not only do we meet in the club, but from here, we participate in more activities, organize weekend trips to connect with each other more.

At the club, thanks to the diligence and dedicated teaching of the teachers, I have acquired many new skills. I have become familiar with new instruments, chords and new songs. I have mastered how to hold the trumpet and how to breathe to blow the trumpet, although it is difficult, but gradually I have become accustomed to the way of practicing here. After knowing how to blow, the teacher taught me skills on how to adjust the pitch, high and low; how to create loud and soft sounds; or how to quickly recognize notes right from looking at the music sheet. From simple songs, I have been able to play songs in flag-raising ceremonies, marching songs that seemed very difficult but I have done it. During the practice process, there were also many difficulties that I had to go through. There were songs, chords that were difficult to remember or getting used to the trumpet that took me many weeks of practice, but thanks to my diligence, I was able to solve everything. When I joined the club, I saw that I had many big changes in myself. Before, I was a rather dry person when it came to music, but now I can play a song as long as I listen to it many times, and music has become my passion. From that day on, I always told myself to practice more to play better, and my efforts have paid off.

Thanks to my seriousness in training, I was selected by the headmaster to join the main ceremonial team of the school, participating in major ceremonies such as opening and closing ceremonies, major annual congresses, standing on a large stage, with thousands of students below. Not only that, I also had the opportunity to participate in city competitions that brought many great awards to the school. In the competition "Our team's trumpet", Duc Tri School participated and I was "of course a strong trumpet player" of the Team, so I was able to participate in the official team. Even the reserve members of the team felt proud to be on the team. In the days leading up to the competition, every Saturday our team spent the whole day practicing more. Without any effort, Duc Tri School's Union was honored to receive second prize.

Pride after pride! I got to interact with the great representatives of the district and the city, and met many new friends from different schools. Every time I stood in the honor guard, wore the ceremonial uniform and blew the trumpet to the National Anthem, I felt honored and proud! The resounding sounds of the trumpet accompanied by the distant lyrics were heroic songs, urging me to try harder and harder. For many years I stood solemnly down there to look up to the flag and sing the National Anthem and the Team Anthem, but I have never felt that each melody and each lyric of a song was so sacred. How happy I am to be the one who contributes to spreading that melody. I am passionate about being a low note in the common harmony of the Vietnamese people!

Clubs are healthy and useful playgrounds. They help us discover interesting things and discover our own talents. With all my love and passion, I hope the trumpet club will receive enthusiastic participation from students and develop even stronger!
