My job – Team leader

In the last days of July, the sun was blazing hot. On my old motorbike, I wandered around the city, applying to many schools in the hope of quickly finding a stable job. I still cannot forget the feeling of excitement every time the phone rang. And then, the shock was the call to accept the recruitment to Duc Tri Primary School in 2011. I - with the immaturity of a newly graduated student - could not help but feel anxious when I went to the school for the recruitment interview. But then, until I met Ms. Le Thi Nga - the school's principal, all worries gradually disappeared before her gentleness, friendliness and kindness. So I officially became a Physical Education teacher, true to my training major.

The wheel of time just quietly passes by, there would be nothing worth mentioning if there were not a big change - a big turning point in my educational career. From a Physical Education teacher, near the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year, I was transferred to work as the General Leader of the Youth Union. At that time, I really felt worried. I didn't even know where to start because this is a job that requires quite high capacity and expertise. As a sports person, now I have to face the task of having to dance and sing with students, handle records, books, plan activities... following the format of documents that I find too difficult to do or complete. But then I suddenly realized that around me there are so many brothers and sisters, so much support and help from the school, from the school's Principal. I am more confident, constantly reminding myself to try my best not to disappoint the expectations and trust of colleagues, brothers and sisters, teachers. I also realize that besides learning knowledge, developing soft skills is also extremely important and necessary for students. That is what motivated me to learn, study, explore, and discover this job. I always wonder and think about how to create many useful and practical playgrounds and activities for children to contribute to educating them to become children with comprehensive development in capacity, qualities, ethics, etc.

It was the end of the 2015-2016 school year, when the city inspection team came to inspect, I was asked by a girl in the inspection team: "Are you doing it temporarily or permanently? People in the profession asked to leave to teach but were not accepted, so he quit teaching and entered this profession.?”… At that time, I didn’t know how to answer, I just laughed it off. Actually, I always believed that a “career” is also a “vocation”, if the profession has chosen me, I should do my best for this job, just dedicate myself and it will “blossom”. And it was true, entering the profession for me was a challenge but also an opportunity. I discovered more of my own abilities, got to meet and work with many talented people, got to accompany many talented children, got to go to many places, learned a lot of useful knowledge. From someone who knew nothing about the profession, after a period of trying, I was evaluated by my superiors from the City and District Youth Unions as having completed well the activities or organized effective activities for children; brought the Duc Tri Union from a unit with the position of “Completing the task” to the “Leading excellent unit” for many consecutive years in Hai Chau district and was awarded the Emulation Flag of “Excellent Unit” by the Da Nang City Youth Union. in the work of the Team and the children's movement from 2017 to 2020. The Team also achieved the title of "Excellent Team of a Thousand Good Deeds" for three consecutive years, and I personally received many certificates of merit from the City Youth Union, the City Team Council, and the Hai Chau District Team Council. And what makes me most proud and happiest is when I witness the generations of students I have guided become successful people, and then every November 20th, the children come back to school, find me to say thank you and do not forget to ask the teacher cake, candy like ever. At that time, I understood more deeply the saying Take a chance! All life is a chance. The person who goes farthest is usually the one who is willing to do and accept the challenge.”.

Time has passed, up to now I have been attached to this job for nearly 5 years - not a long time but not a short time either, enough for me to love the job, to want to continue to be attached to the job more. I tell myself to make more efforts, to strive harder in this job. I hope that I will continue to strive to work with the school to build and train generations of students with intelligence, morality, qualities and comprehensive abilities. Thank you Duc Tri - thank you for the job of Team Leader!
