GD&TĐ – When mentioning the non-public education system in Da Nang City, the school that everyone thinks of first is Duc Tri Kindergarten - Primary and Secondary School (Hai Chau district, Da Nang city) - a healthy, high-quality educational environment, becoming a reliable and prestigious educational address for local people and children.
The successes that have created the school's brand are also the tireless dedication, enthusiasm and responsibility to the educational career of a person with a sharp and creative mind - Principal Le Thi Nga.
Dare to think, dare to do
In 1978, after graduating from school, young teacher Le Thi Nga was assigned to teach in the coastal area of Son Tra district (Da Nang), while participating in the work of eliminating illiteracy for local people.
As a young and enthusiastic teacher, just one year later, Ms. Le Thi Nga was appointed as Vice Principal. This was also the period when the country had not yet escaped the difficult subsidy mechanism, teachers' salaries were low, and education was facing many great challenges.
With her love for the profession and inherent dynamism, teacher Le Thi Nga does not fear difficulties and hardships, working side by side with the team to propose many initiatives and professional solutions to effectively apply in teaching practice.
During the period of 1989-1990, while holding the position of vice principal in charge of professional matters at the facility, she again had a very bold and unexpected turning point: Establishing a private kindergarten, with the desire to answer concerns about the current state of local education.
Recalling this moment, Ms. Nga shared: “In the early 1990s, in Da Nang, the request to open a non-public kindergarten was very new, unprecedented, and no one had done it from the leaders of the education and training sector, and the local government felt very confused.
Along with that, the regulations and guidelines for this school model have not been developed and issued, so my wish only stops at the kindergarten group.
It was not until 1992 that my wish came true when the Department of Education and Training issued a decision to establish the school - the first pilot private school in Da Nang City.
"People who are passionate about their profession always suffer!"
After nearly 25 years of devoting all her heart and soul to building the school, Ms. Le Thi Nga is deeply aware that humanity in the educational environment is the source of all success and maturity of students.
We should not show off but try to do what is practical and most beneficial for students and parents. Therefore, the titles and awards that Duc Tri Kindergarten - Primary and Secondary School has been awarded by the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Training and Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee in recent years are truly worthy of the achievements that the school has achieved.
Sharing the secret to success, Ms. Nga said: “Building a team of teachers is a difficult problem with many potential problems, because it is the human factor that determines the existence and development of the school.
For a private educational institution, this factor is even more important. Therefore, in order to have a team of teachers who are “both red and professional”, in addition to strictly following the policies and regulations of the industry, the school also implements financial incentives, creates a professional working environment and must truly care for and respect its team of teachers…”.
Her sharp thinking and refusal to follow the beaten path are also shown in many of her actions. From the spirit of “self-reliance”, she has built a “school after school, class after class” with a system of classrooms, accommodation, swimming pools, spacious, majestic, modern landscapes… fully meeting the conditions for comprehensive care and education for students to meet the requirements of a national standard school at level 2.
With a "proactive" mindset in educational development, as principal, she has been one step ahead in applying good initiatives and experiences, innovating management and teaching.
The most prominent of these is the implementation of "open classrooms" in the practice garden for preschool children and primary school students for over 10 years now, with the "practical learning and experimental" method, meeting the requirements of educational innovation in the direction of developing students' capacity and moral qualities.
Before saying goodbye, Ms. Nga excitedly "showed off" to us: To meet the school's development scale, the practice workshop, teaching elective subjects, is located on a practice campus of more than 7,000 m2.2 Construction has begun and will be put into operation in the 2015-2016 school year for the first batch of middle school students of the school.
According to her, these will be the premises to create a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the school in the period of implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.
Great Victory
