On December 9, 2012, the school organized a field trip for primary school students to visit Hoi An Silk Village, a traditional craft village of the beloved Quang Nam. The car took the students on a long journey, and each student was eager to explore and learn about this new place.

First, the children visited the traditional house, which displays traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic groups woven from silk; and visited the shrine of Lady Tam Tang (Doan Quy Phi).

After that, the children were allowed to pick and distinguish between Champa mulberry leaves and Vietnamese mulberry leaves. They were extremely surprised to see the small “worms” eating the mulberry leaves that they had put into the silkworm trays themselves. For the first time, they saw and touched a cute, gentle “worm” that could make cocoons and spin silk. The children were also taken by the aunts and uncles to visit the production process. The interesting thing here was that they pulled the wooden loom with the workers to weave fabric, spun silk, held the cocoons, etc.

No less attractive was the visit to the product display area. Here, the children were able to admire the products created by the skillful and talented hands of the craftsmen. Silk and brocade fabrics of all colors and patterns, clothing models, handbags, scarves... and even beautiful and funny animals, containing the essence of the people here, really attracted the children.

A whole world opens up before the children's eyes: ancient wooden houses, jars, pots, old stone mortars and even wonderful wild natural scenes such as dragonflies, grasshoppers, earthworms, sensitive plants, etc., attracting them so much that they don't want to leave.
