After more than 30 years of establishment and development, Duc Tri Primary and Secondary School located in Hai Chau district has affirmed its brand with the quality of teaching and learning. This is demonstrated by the high rate of students winning prizes in competitions, students passing the 10th grade entrance exam to specialized schools and top schools in the city. On the occasion of the opening day of the new school year, we had a discussion with excellent teacher Le Thi Nga, Principal, about the school's teaching and learning issues.

The 2021-2022 school year is a very special year for the education sector of the whole country in general and Da Nang city in particular. Could teachers please tell us about the difficulties that the school is facing?
Meritorious teacher Le Thi Nga: Covid-19 continues to develop complicatedly, so the 2021-2022 school year will continue to open with an online opening ceremony and online learning until the end of semester 1.
Learning from the experience of the 2020-2021 school year, to prepare well for the new year 2021-2022, during the summer vacation, the school took advantage of all the time to train teachers in online teaching techniques, combining active teaching methods with training modules on the 2018 General Education Program of the industry.
Understanding that children are the most vulnerable group during the pandemic, I always encourage homeroom teachers and subject teachers to grasp the students' thoughts to promptly motivate them to study. In particular, during teaching hours, we should not only focus on studying the lessons in the program but also be creative and flexibly apply forms to help students not get bored, create closeness, and see online learning as studying at school.

However, Duc Tri is a private school with 3 levels of education. In the first semester of the school year, the preschool block cannot operate while the primary and secondary blocks are learning online, with only a small portion of tuition collected, so difficulties pile up on difficulties. To maintain operations and ensure the lives of staff, teachers and workers, the school strives to "manage", determined to take care of the team, so that staff and teachers can work with peace of mind and stay with the school.
Could you tell us about the outstanding achievements of the school in the past special school year?
Meritorious teacher Le Thi Nga: The bright spot of Duc Tri is that during difficult times, the team of teachers and staff always unite, love and share with the school and make the best effort to overcome difficulties to teach well. The team of teachers always self-study to improve their professional qualifications as well as the teaching quality of the school. At the end of the first semester, the school has achieved positive results.
Entering the second semester, students can go to school to study directly, that joy seems to create more strength for the teaching staff, determined with passion and responsibility, so they have tried to teach well. The school leaders also directed to focus on training students to prepare well for competitions and exams organized by all levels, as well as the 10th grade entrance exam.
With the efforts of the school community, at the end of the 2021-2022 school year, Duc Tri School has achieved many positive results; the quality of education is still maintained. At the end of the 2021-2022 school year, the secondary school level has 60% students with excellent academic performance, 30% students with good academic performance, 99.8% students with good training results; the primary school level has 100% students completing the program.
Although preschool children have only been back to school for 3 months after 2 long years of absence due to the pandemic, they have quickly gotten used to the school, teachers and friends, and have acquired the necessary basic skills. Many experiential activities, life skills training, and willpower training are still organized and the children enthusiastically participate.
Students of Duc Tri School have achieved many high achievements in exams and competitions at all levels. Specifically, they won 63 prizes in competitions for excellent students, young informatics, robothon at the city level and competitions organized by the education sector in coordination with the team council. In particular, students of the school won the second prize in the national young informatics competition; 15 prizes in the city-level excellent 9th grade student competition: 5 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 2 third prizes, 4 consolation prizes; 30 prizes in the city-level young informatics competition: 6 first prizes, 11 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes; First prize in the Creativity with Code Kitten contest...
The impressive thing and thereby affirming the quality of education of the school is the entrance exam to grade 10 of the 2022-2023 school year. In this exam, 95,871 students passed the entrance exam to high schools as desired, 62,811 students passed the entrance exam to top high schools. Notably, there are 2 classes with a passing rate of 1001 students, which are class 9/2 and class 9/3. Of which, class 9/3 has a passing rate of 68.81 students passing the entrance exam to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted and Phan Chau Trinh High School, in which student Nguyen Tri Viet of class 9/3 won first prize in Biology in the city-level excellent student competition and was the valedictorian of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.
The joy was multiplied when, during the past school year, Duc Tri Union continuously achieved the title of Excellent Union, the school achieved the title of Excellent Labor Collective. At the same time, the school was honored to receive the "Second Class Labor Medal" from the President. This is truly a great source of pride for Duc Tri teachers and students.
What do teachers believe and tell teachers and students of the school in the 2022-2023 school year?
Meritorious teacher Le Thi Nga: To prepare for the new school year and create a new atmosphere, we have invested in many projects, thereby giving the school a more spacious and beautiful appearance, creating conditions for teachers and students to study and practice in a green - clean - friendly environment. During this school year, the school will also organize many experiential activities, creating many playgrounds for students such as: Student Sports Competition, Art Performance, Folk Culture Festival and many other activities.
In addition, over the past two years, students have suffered many disadvantages, and they have had little time to participate in activities to practice and develop themselves. Therefore, in this school year, their efforts must be doubled to rebuild their self-discipline, practice necessary skills, and make up for their lack of knowledge. If they have enough willpower and determination, they will complete their school year tasks well.
Moving and renewing ourselves is always an inevitable part of life for society and us to develop together. After the pandemic, building a new normal life, we will cherish more the values we have and make more efforts to cultivate and enrich life. Schools and parents will strengthen connections to understand each other better and accompany each other in educating children.
